The digital transformation has led to a dramatic increase in parcel trade. While domestic dispatches continue to dominate, international parcel dispatches currently grow twice as fast, generating new opportunities for consumers to access more diversified products and for firms of all sizes and origins to expand customer reach. However, increased volumes of smaller value goods also pose new challenges for border agencies, making it more difficult to monitor and enforce standards and to implement risk assessment strategies.

This session will focus on how to address these challenges in ways that support business growth and consumer welfare potential of parcels trade while minimizing risks of fraud and illegality.
